The Kitchen with a Soul – Led by Chef Karan Tundra

 

There’s a quiet kind of confidence in the way Chef Karan Tundra lifts a ladle. He’s not showy. He doesn’t shout orders. He just stirs — like someone who’s seen both the chaos and poetry of food. At 42, Karan carries the calm of a seasoned chef and the curiosity of a child still amazed by what garlic and butter can do together.

 

His journey didn’t begin in a five-star kitchen. It began in a railway colony mess, where his father was a station cook who taught him that the secret to perfect dal is patience, not spice. After years of working across Delhi, Singapore, and Marseille — picking up flavours, tricks, and stories — he returned home to Haridwar, a city where food carries both devotion and nostalgia.

The Birth of Sethi Catering Services

Sethi Catering Services wasn’t planned. It started as a favour. A close friend needed someone to cater her wedding, and Karan, along with three friends from his catering school, stepped in.

 

They borrowed equipment, cooked for 250 guests, and ended up serving 400 — because word spread halfway through the event and people just showed up. By midnight, they were exhausted, sweaty, and weirdly happy. That night, Sethi Catering Services took flight — not from strategy, but from satisfaction.
